Website Update 1/10/16

  • Between the last posted blog update and this one, I changed/upgraded my site’s theme to GeneratePress. It was the best option I found. I lost some things exclusive to my old WordPress theme, like having certain widgets/sidebars display only on the main index page. Ah well.
  • Doujinshi, doujinshi, doujinshi! I think I counted 22 new doujinshis added to the site. Select Merchandise and then each doujinshi page. (Remember they’re split up down due to the amount. I wonder if I’ll have to split them into three pages by title eventually, or maybe more!)

I was hoping to do more, but I’ve come down with a bit of a cold. The problem of coming back to work after vacation is all of the people who come back to work sick and spread their colds. Ugh. It’s sapped most of my energy away. So rest and relaxation for me as I get over this and hopefully then back to work on the site.

I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. I hope some wonderful things happen to you dear visitor this year.

Oh and for those of you looking into writing and checking off things on a list this year, I recommend looking into Todoist. I found it late last year. Maybe it’ll help you out. 🙂

My best posts of 2015 (Tumblr)

As 2015 draws to a close, I am grateful to all of my followers here on Tumblr. I joined to create a Tumblr for my fansite in hopes of finding more Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers fans
online. As of this posting 174 of you have decided to follow me. Thank you.

Listed below are the top posts on my Tumblr for this year, broken down by month.

Also, if you have not noticed, on my main Tumblr page I have added a “Submit Something
link. This is in case any of you out there find any Dark Warlord/Mashou
or Kayura related stuff you want to let me know about. I’m not sure how
this all works, so we’ll see how it goes.

Here’s to a great 2016 for all of us.

Website Update 12/5/15

Late autumn forest

      Updates:
  • Changed up the navigation bar. There is now “Merchandise” as part of the main menu. The doujinshi have been moved under that menu as a sub-item.
  • Doujinshi page has been split into 2 pages. This is hopefully to help with loading time. I tried my best to split it as close to the middle as possible by first letter of title.
  • Added 4 more doujinshi titles. I also added a NEW button to the right of their title and info to make them easier to find.
  • Added a page with some images of the toys, model kits, and pencil boards. Hopefully there will be more to come. (Need to find images online to add to the page.)
  • Added more links to the links page. (Richard Newman is on twitter! 😀 )

Unfortunately I have found out the WordPress theme I use has last been updated on January 22, 2013. While the theme still works, this worries me. The theme may eventually break, or at minimum it won’t be updated to include new features that webpages use. So I need to go on a hunt to find a new theme. *sigh* This is never easy. I need to find one with the look I want, and able to customize the colors it uses. (Quite a few free themes limit you to use only certain predetermined colors.) So yes sadly the look of this page will change. Hopefully I can find another nice clean theme that I can use blue colors in. (At a brief glance, GeneratePress theme looks promising. I’m still looking though.)

On a personal level, my life lately has been a bit.. mixed. Since my father passed away earlier this year, this time of year is being difficult for me. First there was Thanksgiving (US). It’s a time for family gatherings, and another reminder my father is no longer here. Then there was my birthday on the second of this month. Finally there will be Christmas. It’s a fairly quick one-two-three punch for me emotionally. I’ve been breaking down crying again from time to time. So I need to find some time to take care of myself so I don’t get too depressed.

Also my Logitech trackball mouse has started to have issues lately. The left mouse button is malfunctioning. It doesn’t recognize when I click and hold, or click and drag. It thinks I’m double-clicking. Sometimes even single clicks get interpreted as a double-click. So it seems the mechanism for that button is failing. And of course this made things a royal pain in the ass when I needed to use my mouse to select things to scan images, or to edit them. Often it ended up de-selecting things I was trying to select. *Grumbles.*
I tried to contact Logitech Support via their online form just over a week ago with no response. Which of course is making me seriously doubt Logitech’s support for their products at all.
So I’m on the lookout for a new mouse. I would prefer a trackball since it’s easier on my wrist, but I may have no choice but to go back to a regular mouse. (And something not made by Logitech.) So if anyone has any recommendations on a reasonably priced mouse that works well, I’m open to suggestions.

Anyway I hope you enjoy the updates. As always, thank you for visiting.

Soul of the Seasons turns 19!

birthday-739140_640We’re so old, our birthday candles create a small bonfire.

So I’ve calculated that I have spent half of my life working on this site now. (At least in a little over a month and a half.) Some of you are figuring out how old I am. Others are realizing how old I was when I found this series back in the summer of 1995. 😉

Since this website’s last birthday:

  • Lots of doujinshi images and information added
  • Yoroiden Samurai Troopers TV Series and OVAs re-released on DVD.
  • Reflected on Bandai’s DVD releases.
  • Reviewed Discotek’s releases.
  • Added more wallpapers
  • Started making blog posts of fanart found on Pixiv
  • 159 followers on my Tumblr. Yay!

Added:

  • More fanart blog posts.
  • New wallpaper. You’ll find it under the Group Wallpaper heading.
  • I’m also working on a few more things, but it requires a lot of scanning. So that’ll be coming sometime in the future.

Thank you all who have visited my site over the years. If there’s anything you’d like to see, comment below. I might be able to manage it, depending on what it is. Translations are out though since I’m very far from being fluent in Japanese.

Also if there are any other forums, sites, or social network places where the RW/YST fandom resides that I should be aware of, let me know. It’s awesome to have found so many fans on Flickr. I just don’t know if there are other places online that any of you like to use. (Basically other places where it would be good for me or my site to have an online presence.)

Next year, the big two-oh.

Sorry I haven’t updated lately..

I had some medical issues that came up shortly after my last website update, and they have continued for a long while. Unfortunately I’m still seeing doctors (specialists) and having tests done to determine what’s going on with me. The only things I have determined so far are:

1. My heart is fine. No blockages developing.
2. My sinuses x-rays were completely normal. (Or “grossly unremarkable” as the summary said. I think I dashed someone’s hopes of getting into a medical journal.) Which unfortunately led to the diagnosis of..
3. I am experiencing a-typical migraines. Meaning I get a sharp sudden pain on my head, or bridge of my nose, that lasts for several minutes to a half an hour then it goes away. I don’t seem to be as sensitive as other migraine suffers (yet, knock on wood). Strong smells are at least one trigger. The last time I had a migraine was after the carpets were cleaned at work. They cleaned them in the morning and used something with a very strong chemical smell.
4. No crystals in my inner ear. I was having dizzy/woozy spells. So these spells may be due to something else going on. (The dizziness was why my heart and blood pressure was also checked, to make sure that wasn’t the cause. Ruling out worst case scenario and all that.)

I had a fasting blood test done this past week so I’m waiting to hear the results sometime later this week. That should either rule in or out any other possible problems that are going on.

I still have one more specialist I need to see. However I had to put that off for a bit so I could afford the co-pay. (Between co-pays and paying for deductibles on tests, I’m going broke. 🙁 )

Being ill for this long has made me tired, and the gauntlet of tests is making me depressed. I am feeling a bit better than I was at the beginning of my illness, but I’m not 100% yet.

I’m am still planning to go to Anime Weekend Atlanta this coming weekend. I’ll be wearing this lanyard that you see below. Since I don’t have any series shirts to wear, I figured this was the only way I could find fans (or rather have you find me). Also my tag is supposed to say, “AlphaYami.” So if you’re attending, and you see me, feel free to say hello. As I’ve said I’m only attending, walking around and enjoying the convention. I only did AWA once for part of a day some years back, so I never got a feel for it. So I’ll be doing the whole weekend and seeing how I like it.

Sots-lanyard

I’ll update this blog if I find out any news about my health. And again, sorry for the lack of updates lately. Getting these tests done and working my full-time job has taken most of my energy (physical and mental/emotional) for the past couple of months. I’m hoping they’ll be an end and a solution to my medical issues soon.

Update:

I found out I was low on Vitamin D, B12, and .. I’m pre-diabetic. 🙁 I have already bought a meter and supplies and I am checking and watching my blood sugar levels. The good news is that this has been caught fairly early. So if I can figure out what foods/carbs my body can tolerate, and get in more exercise, I can slow the progression. I’m lucky my husband is also a type 2 diabetic. So he’s been helping me with everything I need to do now. Otherwise I would be a complete panic-ridden wreck right now.

Now I just need time to relax and take a breather from all these doctor appointments from various specialists. I’m done being their medical guinea pig and the “one more test” to rule out something else. Every damn test, minus the fasting blood work, has been normal. So at this point I’m telling them enough is enough. If the doctor is quite certain of what I have, that’s good enough for me. Enough with the rare outside chance so let’s spend more money doing yet another test crap. (Because my insurance will, yet again, punt the cost of the test to my deductible.)

Sighs. So done with doctors for a while. I need my normal life back.

Website Update 7/8/15

  • Added a new Doujinshi title. I also added some back covers of some doujinshi I own, and one nice entire doujinshi cover image. (See 3rd volume of Holy Naaza Empire.)
  • Updated/Revised this Naaza wallpaper.
Wallpaper of cover of 3rd volume of Holy Naaza Empire.
Better image since I was able to scan it, better color background. Just much nicer looking. Please download the latest wallpaper version.
  • Please don’t forget to periodically check the fanart. I’m slowly posting what I find there. I’m still going through art found on Pixiv.net. For ease of loading, I’m showing the first 1 or 2 pieces of fanart as a preview for each post. Keep an eye out for any text saying, “** Click here to see more artwork from this artist. **” You’ll want to click on that to see the full blog post.

Sorry there aren’t more updates.

  1. I’m dealing with the sinus infection from hell. Over 2 weeks and I still have fluid behind my left ear. And I can’t take a decongestant because they have a stimulant and I’m very sensitive to stimulants.
  2. My husband is starting a new job next week. It involves a lot of travel. I’ve been spending time with my husband before he leaves. Also I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning in my free time. I need to get as much cleaning in as I can before my husband starts his job. That way I have one less thing to worry about or have to deal with. With my husband gone for work I’ll be just me taking care of our cats, cleaning, cooking, etc.

Once again thank you for everyone who visits this page, especially those who have contacted me and left really nice comments. I’m glad you enjoy my website. It’s especially nice to see all the visitors outside the US. 🙂 Thank you for your support.

Website Update 6/7/15

Sorry it’s been a while since my last update. Last month I was dealing with a lot of personal issues relating to my father’s passing earlier this year. Last month would have been his birthday. Also near the end of the month I did a fundraising walk for the National Kidney Foundation. We managed to have people donate enough money to raise $400 for our walk!

This month will probably also cause me some anguish. I have to change the radio station any time there’s a mention of Father’s Day. I have to delete emails from companies mentioning Father’s Day sales and the like. (I don’t dare look at them.) Besides that, I think I’m just managing to finally start to put my life back together. It’s enough that at least I’m at the point of sitting down again, scheduling things, and making plans. It helps that the seasonal farmers markets have started up in nearby towns, along with Food Truck night events as well. Getting out and having some fun really helps.

  • Added a new doujnshi title to the Doujinshi Pictures page.
  • Corrected/updated a title on the Doujinshi Pictures page.
  • Corrected some information on Cale/Anubisu’s info page. (Corrected translation of the name of the Mutsu province.)
All translation corrections were thanks to Welcome to Edo!
  • Put up my review of Discotek Media’s TV Series Collection of Samurai Troopers.
  • Started making Fanart blog posts and added that blog post category to my navigation menu. (See “Fanart.”) I have a long way to go for adding things. And right now the menu just has the category of Pixiv, for fanart I’ve found there. I’ve been making posts by artist and posting their Mashou and Kayura related fanart. We’ll see how it goes. I can tweak things later if I have to.

As always thanks for the views, comments, and support.

What else would you like to see?

It seems the Mashou and Kayura doujinshi well has run a bit dry lately. Meaning I can’t find any new ones to add to this site. So I’m addressing this to you my dear visitors. What other content to you want to see posted or shared here?

Here’s some of my ideas that I’ve been thinking about.

  • Fanfiction blog posts:
Since I switched to WordPress and have a blog, I can make blog posts advertising/linking to Dark Warlord/Mashou and Kayura fanfic. I can tag these with character names, genre (horror, sci-fi, romance, comedy, tragedy, adventure, next generation/future, etc), give the author, have a small summary (that author submits hopefully) and a link to the fanfiction. May make it easier for us to find fics dedicated to these characters. Of course I would allow stories that have the Warlords/Mashou and Kayura with the Ronins/Troopers too. Though the fanfic, like this site, must be Warlord/Mashou and/or Kayura centric or at least have them playing a very big part in the story.
It’s been a long while since I’ve dipped into the fanfiction area so I would need to depend on submissions to do this.
  • Fanart blog posts:
I can also use the blog to link to fanart I find online. Basically a copy of my Tumblr, but with the added advantage of using WordPress’ tags to make it easier (hopefully) for you to find a certain character or artist. Full credit will be given with the post.
  • More merchandise images:
I do have some of the original Mashou toys, some model kits, etc. I can take pictures or scan some of those up. I have obvious gaps in my collection though and I’d need to find images online for whatever I’m missing.
The advantage to this is hopefully people will submit images, or links to images, of merchandise they have. Like the trading cards I’ve seen and obviously don’t own. Or cell images. Basically sharing around all our wonderful finds for other fans to see and drool over. And again credit to the person/their website/etc will be listed. 🙂
  • Make Icons or Avatars:
I’d have to do some research on what sizes people need and find images to scan up, but other than that it should work fine. And again if other people have made these on their own, I can link to them and give credit.

Like I said these are just some ideas of mine. I’m hoping some of these ideas will lead to other fans submitting links to their work so that they can be posted here. That way other fans can find their work easier. And as you’ve certainly noticed the trend, I will give credit in any form that person wants. (Email, website, artwork website, blog, etc.)

Feel free to suggest your own ideas in the comments.

Thank you in advance!
